Netflix’s original adaptation of Konami’s acclaimed Castlevania series, will be making its return for a second series. The series’ lead writer, Warren Ellis, confirmed the news on Twitter late last night. The first series, despite its short length of only four episodes, was generally well-received by fans and critics alike, with Ellis stating that the anime adaptation will return sometime this summer for a total of eight episodes this time round.
The first season of Castlevania followed the events of Trevor Belmont and is more closely tied to the events of the 1989 release, Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse, however Ellis has previously stated that the second season may in fact deviate from the series’ previous tales/lore. All that’s left now is for Netflix themselves to confirm an actual release date for when the eventual second season will actually commence.
