Four-Legged Fighter Them’s Fightin’ Herds Now Available on Early Access

The development of Them’s Fightin’ Herds has been an interesting journey, to say the least. It began as a free fan-made fighting game based on My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, but was forced to stop development after Hasbro objected to its use at an EVO tournament. So then developers Mane6 began work on a spiritual successor instead with assistance from none other than MLP: FiM creator Lauren Faust and Skullgirls developers Lab Zero (who offered up the use of the Z-Engine), and after a successful IndieGogo campaign, things were finally underway. And how, Humble Bundle is teaming up to help publish the game, which you can check out right now via Early Access.

Released today, you get to play as one of six various animal inhabitants of the land of Fœnum as they face off against each other in order to eventually obtain an enchanted key needed to lock away the evil Devourer and his predator forces. Mind you, the full story won’t be released until the full game is completed, but as the trailer below shows, players will still have tons of colorful action and different modes to work with, with some cute sixteen-bit pixel lobbies for online matches to boot (and as shown, owners of Blazblue Centralfiction, Skullgirls Second Encore, or Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 will also receive bonus cosmetics). It definitely appears to be unique and promising fighting game, so make sure to give it a look.
