French publishers DotEmu have been known so far for remakes and re-releases of lost classics from earlier gaming eras, such as Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap and Windjammers. But now they’ve recently announced that they’ll be adding a new division known as The Arcade Crew, which will be devoted to helping produce and publish smaller, original indie titles that still have a wholly retro feel to them. The trailer for their first project, Blazing Chrome, can be seen below, and it looks they’re off to a good start with this new chapter for their company.
Coming from Brazilian developers Joymasher, Blazing Chrome is set in a future where evil AI and machines have taken over, and its up to resistance soldier Mavra and insurgent robot Doyle to save the day. It’s a simple setup, but that’s all one arguably needs for such a badass homage to the like of Contra and Cybernator, with the clip showing the kind of 2D action that should hopefully do its predecessors justice. No platforms or release date have been announced yet, but The Arcade Crew has plans for more announcements in 2018 (with their official site already hinting at other games to come), so stay tuned as things develop.
