A couple of weeks ago, we first learned of The Arcade Crew, publisher DotEmu’s new division devoted to assisting original, retro-styled games. We mentioned how they were already planning new titles to add to their lineup, and today their second game has been announced in the form of Dark Devotion, a 2D action-RPG game from French studio Hibernian Workshop. As expected, the announcement came with a trailer that you can check out below, and it definitely looks like this one won’t go easy on players, to say the least.
Playing as a Templar sent to investigate a mysterious temple, you quickly find yourself discovering a bizarre energy that leads to a journey of suffering and redemption that could even lead you questioning your very faith. Seemingly similar to the likes of Salt and Sanctuary or Dead Cells, Dark Devotion boasts four unique worlds with insane bosses, a deep narrative, and a large variety of gameplay mechanics to enhance replayability, among other things. The game is due out for PC and consoles later this year, and will be on display at PAX East 2018, so stay tuned for any potential first impressions of it.
