Within the last hour, Campo Santo — the developers behind 2016’s critically-acclaimed adventure game Firewatch — have confirmed that they will be joining Valve. Though the studio hasn’t specified to what extent or capacity Valve have acquired Campo Santo, the team have reassured fans that they are still in the process of developing their follow-up game, In the Valley of Gods. Speaking on their official blog, Campo Santo state that “the twelve of us at Campo Santo have agreed to join Valve, where we will maintain our jobs as video game developers and continue production on our current project.”
The statement only becomes more confusing with the team ending with “yes, we’re still making In the Valley of Gods (as a Valve game!)”. Campo Santo are also expected to release Firewatch on Nintendo Switch in the near future.
