Call of Duty: Black Ops III Gets New Community Event Ahead of Black Ops IIII Reveal

Treyarch today dropped a new community event into Call of Duty: Black Ops III ahead of the upcoming reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII.

Three years after release, Treyarch continues to provide plenty for players to do in Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Today, players can participate in a brand new community event, Operation Swarm, which adds a new game mode, new weapons, and an updated map. Operation Swarm gives players plenty to do as we wait for the May 17 reveal of Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII.

Fan-favorite mode Prop Hunt finally comes to Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Starting today, props and hunters do battle on ten of Black Ops III’s launch maps. In addition, a tweaked version of the mode will come to Nuk3town where all the props are mannequins.

Two classic weapons make their way to Call of Duty: Black Ops III. The classic RPK LMG is ready to rip enemies to pieces, and the Stem SMG helps players get up close and personal. Unfortunately, both weapons are tied behind Black Ops III’s awful RNG Supply Drop system. There is no other way to get either gun or the limited time HIVE weapon camo.

Finally, the map Fringe has received a visual overhaul. Before it was a dust-filled ghost town, Fringe was a small, bustling community. Players can explore what the map used to be like in Fringe Nightfall.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII will be revealed on May 17.
