Those on the Switch can at last prepare for Nintendo’s online service which has been in the works for quite some time now. Nintendo unveiled all the details for players to finally get a look at, and it’s a hefty amount of information. Currently planned for the service is 20 NES games that will include online features for the first time ever, with more to be added regularly for players to choose from, hopefully hinting that these titles will also be available for regular sale without the service as well. Nintendo is also finally getting on board with cloud saves, and although details aren’t full on this bit yet more will be coming when the service launches later this year. They also mention the Nintendo online app, but nothing too much more here, just likely continued support for more titles outside of Splatoon 2 will be coming upon release. Finally, Nintendo mentions that those who subscribe to the service will receive special deals and offers for being a member, finally giving players Switch goods to look forward to.
As for the pricing of the service players can subscribe a month at a time for $3.99, get 3 months for $7.99 or a full year for $19.99. In addition to those individual prices, those looking to cover multiple players with online can also pick the Family Membership which lasts 12 months for $34.99 and will give access to 7 people of the main subscriber’s choosing. Those interested will be able to pay through either the Nintendo eShop or at select retailers when it launches.
Nintendo’s Online Service for Switch is planned to launch in September of this year. For even more details on what Nintendo has in store, be sure to check out their official page right here.
