Moscow-based developer Mundfish recently dropped Atomic Heart’s first full trailer since its teaser was revealed in July 2017 and it looks like a frightening good time. Atomic Heart is an adventure first-person shooter set in an alternate universe during the height of the Soviet Union. You’ll play as special agent P-3, who has been sent to investigate why a top secret Soviet facility has gone offline. Initial impressions give us the familiar creepy aesthetic of Bioshock with the vast open world of Fallout.
Atomic Heart’s new trailer weaves these elements into a visually stunning surrealist killer theme-park that would make even Salvador Dalí proud. Creepy killer robots, flying drones and bloodied amorphous blobs hint at the game’s nature while still keeping us curious for more. We even get a small peek at potential upgrade systems for weapons, survival tools and interactions with environments in the midst of adrenaline-pumping robotic chaos.
Atomic Heart will be available on PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One, but there is still no definitive release date information other than “2018.” Mundfish is currently working on co-op first-person project Soviet Lunapark VR Room, due to release later this month, but nothing else can currently be determined about Atomic Heart. We’ll have to content ourselves with this mind-bending trailer in the meantime.
