Since the Nintendo Switch launched in March 2017, the console has taken the world by storm. In its first year alone, it’s already sold more units than its WiiU predecessor ever did. With all the great games that have come out already, fans are still left wondering: what is the future of Pokémon on the Switch? Rumors have been circulating as to what new games would be made available on the newest console since the main-story Pokémon games have traditionally come out on the 3DS and other previous handhelds. Additionally, since Nintendo has decided not to add Virtual Console to the Switch (RIP) it seems as if older Pokémon games are currently out of the question. This has led speculation about possible remasters of older games, or simply re-releasing them in a digital format. However, in a suspicious turn of events, Serebii.net tweeted that Domain names for “Pokémon Let’s Go Pikachu” and “Pokémon Let’s Go Evee” have been registered by CSC Corporate Domains, Inc.: the same company Nintendo used to register the Official Sun and Moon websites.
Furthermore, Emily Rogers (a renowned and accurate leaker of Nintendo properties) chimed in with her own information yesterday by saying new titles would be “revealed by the end of the month”. She additionally hinted to possible Pokémon Go collaborations and a new naming and branding for this year’s Pokémon Switch title. Could these “Go” titles indicate a new horizon for Pokemon Go? Will we see remasters of older games like Pokémon Yellow? Will a new main-story title appear soon for the Switch? It seems we’ll have to wait for our questions to be answered. With E3 on the horizon, Nintendo could use that opportunity to surprise us all yet.
