The Scatter Arrow has died, and for good reason, but its replacement, Storm Arrows, might be getting knocked down a few pegs now too.
Word comes by way of the Overwatch forums, where developer Geoff Goodman offered some information on what they’re thinking about doing with the Storm Arrows. The problem lies in one shots, where Hanzo is able to take down lower HP heroes with a full volley of his Right Click. Here’s what Goodman had to say:
“We’ve been testing some nerfs internally and have decided to make a change for the upcoming patch.
We’re reducing the damage per arrow from 80 to 70, which not only drops them out of one-shot territory for 200 hp heroes (w/ dmg boost), but also drops them out of one-shot range of 150 heroes such as Tracer and D.Va pilot.
The ability will still be very strong overall, but this change should help mitigate the most frustrating element of fighting against it. We’re looking at getting this change up onto the PTR soon.”
The reason for getting rid of the Scatter Arrow in the first place was to stop Hanzo from getting those one shot kills, so while Storm Arrows have pretty successfully made Hanzo a playable character again, it will be great to see him when he’s been more fully balanced. Look out for Hanzo’s changes in the PTR soon.
Stage 4 of the Overwatch League begins today at 7pm EST. The first match of the day will have the LA Gladiators taking on the San Francisco Shock.
