Japan Expo 2018 Announces Special Guests

In addition to NIS America attending this year’s Japan Expo 2018, two very special guests will appear for panels and signings. Fans of classic arcade fighters will be happy to hear that Yasuyuki Oda, of SNK Corporation, will be in attendance. Joining SNK in 1993, Oda has contributed as a director, game designer and artist to numerous NEOGEO works, such as entries in the Fatal Fury and Art of Fighting series. More recently, Oda is the Producer on The King of Fighters XIV and SNK Heroines. He returned to SNK in 2014 in order to take over the game development division and lead the development of King of Fighters XIV and SNK Heroines.

Little demons who’ve spent time in the Netherworld will be fairly familiar with this year’s second guest, Sohei Niikawa. Niikawa is the president of Nippon Ichi Software, Inc. as well as the producer and writer of the Disgaea series and other works. Entering Nippon Ichi Software, Inc. in 1996, he was first assigned to the Sales and Marketing Division. In 1998, Niikawa assumed his first role as scenario writer and producer for Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure. Using this as a stepping stone, he then became the producer and scenario writer for such titles as 2003’s Disgaea: Hour of Darkness and 2004’s Phantom Brave. In 2009, he was then promoted to President of Nippon Ichi Software, Inc. Niikawa still has a hand in the Disgaea series as a producer and writer. This year’s Japan Expo will take place in Paris, France from July 5 to July 7.
