Battle Princess Madelyn Shows Off Its First Chapter in New Gameplay Video

Canadian developers Casual Bit Games made a splash on Kickstarter with their 2D side-scrolling arcade throwback, Battle Princess Madelyn, And ever since the campaign’s success, they’ve been active at providing countless screenshots, GIFs, and bits of work to show just how smoothly things are coming along. Now, though, they’ve released a new trailer showcasing a fair bit of gameplay from the first chapter/level of the game, and as you can see below, it looks like an impressive piece of work so far.

Inspired by the likes of Ghouls n Ghosts (and with what appears to be a touch of The Princess Bride, going by the cinematics), the 16-bit homage sees you playing as the titular Madelyn, a knight in training attempting to rescue her family from an evil wizard and avenge their dog Fritzy, whose ghost accompanies them. It definitely seems to evoke the spirits of Capcom’s classics quite nicely, and while no release window has been announced yet, make sure to keep an eye out for Battle Princess Madelyn when it comes to all major platforms (including the Vita and Wii U as well) sometime soon.
