Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft’s answer to PlayStation Plus’s massive library of games, continues to see expansion. Of course there’s always a new rotation of games making its way onto the service, but soon there’s a new feature coming to the service.
It’s called FastStart and it will offer a much faster way to get playing. Select titles will be able to utilize this feature which only requires a small chunk of the game to download before being ready for play. The rest will download in the background. However, this feature is said to require a 20MB download speed to work well.
How does FastStart work? It utilizes machine learning to determine which portions of the game data are pertinent right out of the gate. The algorithm will continue to learn and improve over time as more gamers play FastStart-enabled games.
FastStart debuts on Xbox Game Pass in June for Xbox Insiders.
