Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana received pretty favorable reviews when it originally launched in September of last year and next week sees the game landing on the Nintendo Switch following its Switch announcement earlier this year. While reviews for the Switch port have remained fairly positive overall and in line with its PS4 version, the game’s accompanying PC release has not been well met and it looks like the same issues that plagued Ys VIII’s PC port have made their way onto the Switch version with the game’s english translation and technical problems most prominent in some criticisms.
NIS America have been quick to address this latest issue by confirming that the Switch version of Ys VIII will receive not one, but three patches that look to address issues with in-game text as well as other areas raised in some reviews. The first patch will come in the form of a day one update. Ys VIII is the first game in the Ys series to be published by NIS America with XSEED Games having previously helped in localising and subsequently publishing titles outside of Japan. Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will be available for Switch on June 26 in the US and June 29 in Europe.
