Best of E3 2018 – Day Five: Game of Show

Over the past five days, Hardcore Gamer has revealed its Best of E3 2018 Awards. All good things must come to an end and today we’re proud to present you with our Game of Show.

Cyberpunk 2077

Of all the games that entered E3 2018, perhaps none were as anticipated as Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red’s follow-up to their excellent work on The Witcher franchise hyped and intrigued fans. Finally, at the show, CD Projekt Red gave media and fans a look at Cyperpunk 2077 and it blew away expectations. The developer’s dark take on humanity’s future featured fast-paced gameplay, a full suite of RPG mechanics and a stunning presentation.

Armed with a fifty minute demo, CD Projekt Red laid out its plans for Cyberpunk 2077. With gameplay that appeared to combine the first-person shooting of Destiny with the thoughtful level design of Deus Ex, the developer stood out from their previous work. RPG aficionados will adore the game’s vast suite of character customization options, dialogue options and mission variety. All of this is wrapped up in a beautiful, neon package.

CD Projekt Red walked into E3 2018 with confidence and had everything they needed to back it up. Cyberpunk 2077’s take on the future left us excited to see more and we can’t wait until that happens.
