Shenmue was a genre-bending game when it was first released in 2000, and over time, the journey of Ryo Hazuku has become the stuff of legend. It was a slice of life game and something that wasn’t for everyone – but for anyone who played it and had it “click” with them, the adventure was an engrossing one. The sequel’s North American release was halted on the Dreamcast, but did get a release on the original Xbox. The series, but especially the first, was heralded for giving you a glimpse into a day in the life of people and it replicated a real-world setting better than anything at the time.
In this video, Adam Koralik and Imran Yusef visit Dobuita Street in Yokosuka- the iconic home of many events in the original game. A bit of Ryo cosplay leads to some soda drinking – and who doesn’t love some refreshing Blur Cola? Shenmue I and II will be re-released on the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on August 21 for $29.99. These classics will have a second chance at life and buying it on either the PC or PS4 will ensure that you will be able to play the entire trilogy on those platforms. Sadly, Shenmue III doesn’t have an Xbox One release planned
