BioWare Veteran Moves From Digital RPGs to Actual Tabletop

Stepping away from the video game industry after 22 years veteran of BioWare and a lead designer of Baldur’s Gate, James Ohlen will be focusing on a new project that is just as exciting as any of his others.

Taking to twitter to make the announcement James let fans and community know that he needed to step away from video games to work on something smaller and more personal. Working with Wizards of the Coast James is writing a hardcover source book for Dungeons & Dragons’ fifth edition, titled Odyssey of the Dragonlords. Not alone in his endeavor Ohlen will be working with other BioWare alumnae Jesse Sky.

In another of his twitter statements on leaving Bioware, Ohlen said:

The most fun I’ve ever had at BioWare was as the lead designer on Baldur’s Gate 1+2 and NWN. I’ve been a D&D fanatic since I was 10 years old and I want to be a part of it again. Please visit Arcanum Worlds to see what I’m talking about.”

Don’t know about you dear reader, but I’ll happily take a new source book for D&D fifth edition and knowing that Ohlen is working on means it’s in safe hands.
