Bigben and developers Frogwares impressed us quite a bit a while back with The Sinking City, an open-world Lovecraftian detective game. Among other things, the flooded New England setting was inspired, and the gameplay seems to perfectly reward proper investagion and attention. But should you require a further taste of the insanity that the Lovecraft universe can deliver, a new trailer called “A Close Shave” has dropped, highlighting some gameplay and a rather twisted bit of personal hygiene.
We see our protagonist, private investigator Charles Reed, begin to enjoy a good shave…up until the point tentacles start sprouting out of his face. The scene is intercut with moments where Charles interacts with the residents – human and otherwise – of Oakmont, Massachusetts, possibly explaining where he got more than a few of his scars. Of course, as the clip shows, the scars have also extended to his mind as well. The Sinking City is due out on March 21, 2019 for PC, PS4, and XB1, and may be a sleeper hit to watch out for.
