Speaking with investors during their Q1 results conference call, Capcom revealed they expect Resident Evil 2 to do quite well. Based on the positive reception, Capcom expects Resident Evil 2 to be a ‘million-seller.’ As for future remakes, the publisher confirmed they’re looking at other IP in their catalog:
“Regarding remakes and rereleases of titles in our back catalog, we expect to explore these further with a variety of properties as a part of our strategy to utilize our library of IP.”
Numerous titles come to mind when thinking of remakes and rereleases. Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, Dino Crisis, Viewtiful Joe, and Darkstalkers come to mind. We’ll have to wait and see what Capcom intends on doing.
