Gearbox’s We Happy Few is a narrative-driven, action-adventure game set in a retrofuturistic 1960s England. The game contains elements of horror as players will attempt to escape a society where cheerful denial medicates its citizens’ judgments. Gearbox has enlisted the quirky stylings of The Make Believes in a new music video, La La La, to celebrate the game’s launch. The band makes use of various themes found within the game and even creates a small narrative as one band member begins to see through the happy charade. These narrative elements make connections to the game itself, as players will also need to remove their rose-tinted glasses in order to see the true reality of We Happy Few. With a swinging sound reminiscent of the 1960s, The Make Believes also headline the game’s soundtrack. Gearbox has announced that a digital soundtrack and other digital goodies are now available for pre-order in a bundle. We Happy Few launches on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC August 10, 2018.
