Daedalic Entertainment today released a live-action launch trailer for State of Mind.
The trailer, which is posted below, is told from the viewpoint of the Luddite terrorist organization Breakpoint and combines archival footage to create a propaganda-style video opposing the technological advancements in Daedalic’s title.
State of Mind explores the theme of transhumanism, putting into practice a world that has rapidly developed thanks to the progress made with tech and science.
Players are transported to a futuristic version of Berlin and take control of Richard Nolan, a staunch tech critic who emerges from a car accident with memory loss and the news that his wife and son are missing.
Meanwhile, Adam Newman is the second supporting main and lives his life in the utopia that is City 5. The story-driven science fiction thriller has four playable supporting characters, too.
“What happens when people are promised a better world thanks to technology, but what they actually get is a life full of division? That’s the question we look to answer with State of Mind,” says creative lead Martin Ganteföhr.
“Part of the reason the game is set in the very near future is because a lot of the problems the world in State of Mind encounters are problems we could well face in the real world in the years ahead. This is a game about transhumanism and its all-in bet on the future, and that’s a theme I think many players will find disturbingly familiar.”
