The HTC Vive has provided the highest-end VR experience on PC since its launch, but users have complained about all of the cabling required for it. Today, HTC announced a new Vive Wireless Advepter that frees users up from the tether to their PC. It will work with both the HTC Vive and Vive Pro, with pre-orders beginning on September 5. Pre-orders will be available for US users at Amazon, Best Buy, Microsoft, NewEgg, and Vive’s own site as well. The Vive Adapter will cost $299 and installs in minutes. Vive Pro users will need additional cabling and padding, which will result in the Vive Pro compatibility pack being sold for $60.. Buyers of the wireless adapter will also get a two month trial subscription to Viveport – offering access to nearly 500 games and experiences for the device.
