The main tank and OWL MVP runner-up, Baek ‘Fissure’ Chan-Hyung, will join the Seoul Dynasty in season two of the Overwatch League. Word comes by way of Gen.G esports, who own the Dynasty.
“We’re thrilled to add a player of Fissure’s caliber,” said Arnold Hur, Gen.G esports Chief Growth Officer. “He’s a difference-maker who will step right in and contribute immediately.”
Fissure started his Overwatch League career with the London Spitfire, moving to the LA Gladiators about halfway through Season 1. His move to away from the Gladiators should not come as a surprise, although the split was surely amicable. The tank player made it clear near the end of the inaugural season that he would prefer playing on a Korean speaking team.
Fissure seems incredibly excited about his new team. “I’ve dreamt of playing for Seoul Dynasty for a long time. I’m very excited to wear the Seoul Dynasty uniform and I will try to bring my A game for the fans,” said Fissure regarding the Dynasty. “Also, I’d like to express my gratitude to the players and management team of the LA Gladiators, who have supported my decision. I won’t forget the memorable moments I had last season as part of the LA Gladiators.”
The LA Gladiators took the move in stride, thanking Fissure on Twitter:
🛡️ THANK YOU, @FISSURE 🛡️
Farewell to our glorious, most handsome main tank.
You have left your mark as a Gladiator in our legacy.
We wish you the best of luck with the @SeoulDynasty.
