Capcom announced today that Onimusha: Warlords is getting the HD remaster treatment. This new version of the PS2 classics sports high-definition visuals as well a suite of new features to enhance the experience. Chief among these is the option to switch between widescreen display and the game’s original 4:3. Wide-screen display is supported by a screen-scrolling feature that follows the player and reveals portions of the screen that would otherwise be hidden. The original ratio, on the other hand, is supported by standard letter-boxing.
Onimusha: Warlords is also getting some mechanical additions. Analog stick movement is supported in this new version, and players have the option playing in the new “Easy Mode.” Such an addition is easy to scoff at, but every little bit helps when trying to drum up new interest in a classic game. Those interested in checking it out for the first time won’t have to worry about not being able to make it through.
Onimusha: Warlords launches on January 15, 2019 for PC, PS4, Switch and Xbox One.
