Sega’s Yakuza Studio to Unveil New IP Next Month

Sega’s internal development team — primarily responsible for the Yakuza series — will be unveiling a brand new IP next month, the company’s own Toshihiro Nagoshi announced during a recent livestream. While he remained tight-lipped on the specifics as to what it might be — throwing out a quick statistic on the project having been underway for roughly three years — Nagoshi did claim that he believes it will be “something truly different”.

As translations compiled by Gematsu show, Nagoshi went on to state that “it’s a new title announcement that will turn things upside down.” Important to note that this year’s Tokyo Games Show takes place around the same time — from September 20 – 23 — which has already led to speculation that it will be the venue with which the team will go about unveiling their next project. Regardless, we won’t have to wait long to see what this alleged new IP might be. The team’s latest effort, the western localisation of the newest adaptation in the Fist of the North Star series — Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise — arrives in North America and Europe for PS4, on October 2.
