Yacht Club Games announced the release of Shovel Knight Showdown last week as the final game in the Treasure Trove version of the legendary platformer. Today, the company announced a final release date for not only that, but also the King of Cards campaign. Both will be released on April 19, 2019 alongside a surprise physical release of Shovel Knight Treasure Trove on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. The PS4 previously had a physical version of the game, which went out of print a while ago, and this will be the first time the Switch version gets a physical release. This physical version will be sold at a higher price point, bringing it to $39.99 on both the Switch and PS4, but digital owners can still buy the Treasure Trove for $24.99.
If you already own Treasure Trove on either a PS4, PC, Switch, or Xbox One, then you will receive all of the campaigns and Showdown at no additional cost. Shovel Knight has been a game-changer for the world of indie gaming and that trend continues with it getting yet another physical release and keeping the price at a fairly low level digitally for those just getting into the game. This is the kind of game where being an early adopter definitely resulted in some big savings, but even at $25 digitally, you’re still getting a ton of value for your money.
