Koei-Tecmo has announced that Dead or Alive 6 will see a worldwide release on February 15, 2019. This newest installment of Team Ninja’s fighting series will be available both physically and digitally, and it will come with an additional character plus either a console theme or a character costume for fans who decide to pre-order. PlayStation 4 players will get Nyotengu added to their roster along with a Dead or Alive 6 theme, while Xbox One owners will get the same character and an extra costume for Ryu Hayabusa.
The announcement trailer shows a few snippets of story and gameplay with no dramatic reveals to be seen. However, there were a few glimpses of the games stages and stage hazards, and it looks like Team Ninja has made them quite elaborate this time. Dead or Alive 6 is probably the only fighting game where the fighters risk getting chomped on by a T. Rex or sent down a water slide.
The Dead or Alive series has seen some solid entries in the past, with Dead or Alive 5 being quite entertaining if nothing else. Hopefully Dead or Alive 6 will achieve the same while also overcoming its predecessor’s short-comings.
