Ever since Nintendo launched their latest console last year, there has been a steady flow of first and third-party titles that has kept the system’s momentum strong, reaching nearly twenty million sales as of this past July.
According to a recent piece by the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is looking to keep this trend going by releasing an updated version of the Nintendo Switch during the second half of next year. While there are no specifics on what this version of the console will upgrade upon the original, the report suggests that Nintendo is looking at improving the display to more closely compete with the screen technologies of modern smartphones. If the report is true, the updated console’s launch could coincide with a number of Nintendo’s planned releases for next year, including Metroid Prime 4, Animal Crossing or Luigi’s Mansion 3, among others.
