Likely as a means to quickly counter the startlingly large day one update of 50GB, UK retailer GAME have today announced that they’ve been given permission by Activision to sell Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 earlier than usual, making the game available starting 6pm BST this coming Thursday. While the services won’t go live until midnight on Friday, it will allow users in the UK to download the hefty update in the lead up to midnight.
Activision have already confirmed that a recommended space of 112GB should be left in order to get an “optimized experience” with the Battle Royale-centered Blackout available to play at around 30% of download completion. It’s unclear whether retailers in the US, or anywhere else for that matter, will offer the same arrangement, though users online have already stated that outlets like Gamestop have contacted them, stating that they can collect the game’s Collector Edition, the Mystery Box Edition as it’s called, on Thursday evening. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 releases across PS4, Xbox One & PC via Battle.net.
