Last week, Sega announced plans for a brand new strategy IP called Revolve8. It immediately drew attention thanks to the involvement of talent such as Masayoshi Kikuchi and Koji Igarashi, acting as producer and character designer, respectively. And now we finally get our official reveal for Revolve8: Episodic Dueling, along with the first gameplay details. What we have is a real-time strategy game for mobile devices (as suspected) with Igarashi’s twist on classic fairy tale characters, and it looks intriguing so far.
Crafting decks of eight cards, each player has three minutes in a match to destroy their opponent’s tower. Each card summons heroes, minions, buildings, or magic effects, with their own strengths and weaknesses. The heroes run the gamut from Grimm to Arabian Nights and Japanese folklore, each given their own unique twists. As seen in the trailer and screenshots below, it certainly appears to be quite the colorful strategy game. No official release date has been announced yet, but Revolve8 is set to hit iOS and Android in the future. For those who can’t wait, though, the Closed Beta for Revolve8 begins on October 23, with registration open now. Head on over to the game’s official site if you want to sign up.
