Psyonix Details Cross-Play, Xbox One X Plans for Rocket League

Earlier today, Psyonix revealed some important updates on their plans for their indie hit for the conclusion of 2018 and beyond.

With the announcement of Sony’s support for cross-play in Fortnite, many were wondering if Psyonix would follow behind with Rocket League, as the studio has been vocal in the past about wanting to have players from all platforms able to compete against one another. The developer has been making progress on it through their RocketID initiative, which was originally scheduled for release later this year, but has now been pushed back to early 2019, with a new intent to bring the feature to all platforms thanks to Sony’s recent policy change. On a brighter note for 2018, Psyonix is planning to release one additional update, which will include Xbox One X support at 4K 60 FPS with HDR, and one final in-game event, Frosty Fest, which will reward players who play during the limited time period with holiday-themed items, both of which are scheduled for December.

Rocket League is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
