Best known for their impressive headsets, Astro Gaming is expanding their horizon into the third-party controller space. The San Francisco-based company has revealed today the Astro Gaming C40 TR Controller (TR standing for Tournament Ready) that will be compatible for the PlayStation 4 and PC. It will fully utilize its own touchpad, but more importantly, it will be fully modular in how you modify it.
“Our products have dramatically changed the esports landscape – improving team and player performance along the way,” said Aron Drayer, Vice President of Marketing, ASTRO Gaming. “Our new ASTRO C40 TR Controller is the next natural evolution of our continued commitment to esports, pro gaming and gamers in general. After more than two years of development while incorporating feedback from pro gamers, we’re excited to finally get the C40 TR into the hands of customers. The C40 TR will be a literal game changer.”
For example, if you’re someone like myself who prefers the thumbstick where the D-Pad is on a DualShock controller, you’re able to fully swap the two. There are also a couple variations of the thumbsticks and a circular D-pad that can be found on other devices such as the Xbox One Elite Controller. It also features two programmable buttons on the back, trigger stops, profiles, and is fully wireless with up to 12 hours of battery life.
The Astro C40 TR will run players a pretty penny, though. Being a high end item it comes in at $199.99 USD ($269.99 CAD) and will launch in early of 2019.
