NetherRealm Studios and Phosphor Studios have confirmed that they will discontinue support for WWE Immortals.
“We hope you have enjoyed playing WWE Immortals,” reads the statement. “We are sorry to tell you that the game will no longer be supported after December 31, 2018, and will officially close on February 28, 2019. After December 31, 2018, in-app purchases will no longer be available.
“However, you may continue to play and spend any in-game currencies you already have until February 28, 2019. After that date, only the single-player campaign will be available and [Warner Bros. ID] cloud saves will no longer function.
“It has been an honor working with such a passionate community! We are thankful for all of you who played WWE Immortals and appreciate your support.”
The news has been met with disappointment from many players on social media.
“There are so many superstars you could’ve added, bring more fun to it. Why end [it] now? What happened?” one Twitter user wrote.
A second tweeted: “You really had something with this game but, unfortunately, you stopped supporting it long ago and WWE SuperCard got way too big for you to compete with. RIP.”
A third added: “Honestly, this was a long time coming, even though this is the coolest and most creative WWE game yet. It had one major problem: the roster. WWE’s problem is that the roster changes so quickly that it made the characters in the game soon [to] be irrelevant.”
The mobile title, which was published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, was announced in 2014 and launched in 2015 for Android and iOS devices.
