Among the most notable eShop titles from this decade is Gunman Clive, a 2D Western action game. Originally released for mobile devices, the game made a bigger splash when it hit the 3DS in 2013. The massive success on Nintendo’s platform led to a sequel and an HD version later on. So after reaping these rewards from the eShop, it’s only fitting that the next game from developer Bertil Hörberg and his team heads straight to the Nintendo Switch. Dubbed Mechstermination Force (again falling under the category of games we would play based on the name alone), this new 2D action game now jumps into a sci-fi setting, as seen in the announcement trailer below.
Mechstermination Force is a boss rush title, a la Titan Souls or Shadow of the Colossus. The massive machines in question are the MegaMachs, which have taken over the world. So naturally, now it’s up to a scrappy resistance team to defeat them, one by one. This means having to get to their weak points by whatever means possible and blast away in order to guarantee success. It looks like a blast, & appears to be Hörberg’s most ambitious game yet, so here’s hoping for the best when Mechstermination Force comes out for the Switch in the future.
