The Mortal Kombat 11 closed beta opens next week starting at 8AM (PDT) on Thursday, March 28. As with most betas these days, it’ll serve as something of a sample for those looking forward to getting their hands on the full game when it finally releases on April 29. Players won’t get to try everything Mortal Kombat 11 has to offer, but it looks like they’ll at least get to have a bit of fun during the trial weekend.
While the beta active, players will have a small roster of characters to put through their paces. These characters include: Scorpion, Jade, Baraka, Scarlet and Kabal, all of which will be playable in either head-to-head competitive multiplayer or in “Klassic Tower” mode. Fans will also have access to the game’s customization system in order to put a little of their personal flair into the online beat-downs. Access is mostly tied to whether or not one preorders the game though, so don’t be tempted to think of this as a free demo. That will likely come closer to launch.
Mortal Kombat 11 launches for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on April 29. Check out our review of Mortal Kombat X for a quick refresher on where the series is at these days.
