Cyberpunk 2077 to get Multiplayer Post-Launch

CD Projekt Red today confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 will have a multiplayer component, but with a catch.

CD Projekt Red built it’s name on stellar single player experiences. Their Witcher trilogy stands as some of the best single player RPGs released in the past few years. Cyberpunk 2077 looks to continue that tradition, but with a twist. The upcoming RPG will be the studio’s first stab at a full-blown multiplayer experience.

Taking to Twitter, CD Projekt Red confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 is getting a multiplayer component. The big catch? It arrives post-launch. On April 16, 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 launches as a single player game with free content updates planned afterwards. Only after that will the studio release the multiplayer mode:

Cyberpunk 2077 is out April 16, 2020 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. While we’ll have to wait to see how multiplayer works in the Cyberpunk universe, we do have a pretty good idea how single player works. Last week, CD Projekt Red dropped 14 minutes of gameplay footage based on the build shown off to press at E3 and Gamescom. Be sure to check it out and see what the studio has in store for us.
