Puzzle Quest: The Legend Returns Gets a Release Date for Nintendo Switch

Puzzle Quest: The Legend Returns will be heading exclusively to Nintendo Switch this month, publisher D3 Go! and developer Infinity Plus 2 today announced.

According to the publisher, the remastered title will be available on the Nintendo eShop from September 19.

Infinity Plus 2’s title is also available to pre-purchase for Switch owners, D3 has confirmed.

The Australian studio’s match-three puzzle title transports players to the kingdom of Etheria, which is based in the Agarian Forest.

Players must match three or more gems in a row to secure mana, granting them the ability to utilize spells, gaining experience and picking up new items and rewards.

The Legend Returns boasts over 240 quests and features branching quests, allowing players to impact the direction of the story.

Infinity Plus 2 has said that eight classes from previous titles will return, but the Puzzle Quest title will introduce five new classes, including Blood Mage, Priest, Monk, Paladin and Elementalist.

Along with The Legend Returns, D3 has confirmed that Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords and the Revenge of the Plague Lord expansion has been remastered in 1080p for Switch.

Puzzle Quest creator Steve Fawkner has revealed why the development team made The Legend Returns a Switch exclusive.

“We’ve been working on this version for almost a year, and it’s been built from the ground up,” the Infinity Plus 2 founder told Nintendo Life.

“It’s still the same Puzzle Quest we know and love, but we’ve rebuilt all the screens to bring the experience up to a standard expected by gamers today.

“The Nintendo Switch is a great choice for Puzzle Quest — the combination of touch screen and joy-con style inputs works really well (we support both!), but more importantly, this has always been a game you can snack on for five minutes, or dive into for five hours, and the unique portability of the Switch lends itself to those varied play patterns really well.”
